“Dancers at the End of Time”
Howlin’ Rain
Magnificent Fiend (2008)

This band rocks hard. It’s like Mountain, Deep Purple, and a heady dose of psychadelic jamming. It sounds like 1972, but it’s really just one of the best albums from 2008. And unlike a lot of bands that try to emulate 70s rock, this band sounds real in an undefinable way. Wolfmother is the example that comes to mind first of a band that doesn’t pull that off - Wolfmother sounds like a calculated attempt to mimic the classic rock, and the music is sort of cheapened, sounding kind of like a knock-off.

Howlin’ Rain sounds authentic, genuine. I don’t know why or how, maybe its the long winding jams. But I like it.
